According to ex-England international Paul Robinson, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has the means to turn Darwin Nunez into a successful acquisition this coming season.

Liverpool paid a lot of money to sign the forward from Benfica but the fans have been worried about what they have seen in pre-season. It’s definitely early days to make any sort of judgement but there are fears that Liverpool might have paid too much money for a very average striker.

However, Robinson is confident that Jurgen Klopp will be able to transform Darwin Nunez into a success at Anfield.

“You will see very early on what the manager’s plans are for him,” Robinson told Football Insider.

“Klopp has got a natural ability of seeing a player’s character and seeing what he is capable of and ready for. Some players he gives time to and some players he breaks into the side gently.

“The likes of (Luis) Diaz and (Virgil) van Dijk have come straight into the side. I cannot think of a January signing having more of an impact than Van Dijk. Both of those players looked like they had been at Liverpool for two or three seasons.

“Klopp has the ability to do that. We will see in the first two games of the season as to what Klopp’s plans are for Nunez.”

Will Darwin Nunez prove the doubters wrong?

Darwin Nunez had scored 48 goals in 85 games for Benfica before joining Liverpool but from his first few outings, it’s pretty clear that the 23-year-old is not going to be an instant success.

Last season, Luis Diaz had an immediate impact after joining Liverpool and most of the fans were hoping for a repeat with the Nunez signing.

Liverpool have made several big signings which have turned out to be duds(Minamino and Naby Keita) but overall, most of the new arrivals under Jurgen Klopp have turned out to be a hit.

Players like Konate, Thiago and Fabinho might have taken time to settle down but once they have adjusted to the Premier League all these players have become integral to Klopp’s plan.

There’s no way Liverpool would have paid so much money for an underwhelming talent and we are very much confident that once the season kicks off, Darwin Nunez is going to hit his stride.
