Newcastle United are interested in signing Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah on a season-long loan deal, according to The Telegraph.

The report claims: “Manager Steve Bruce wanted a left-back, a winger, a central midfielder and potentially two strikers this summer and his plan is starting to take shape after persuading Mike Ashley to back his judgement in recruitment rather than persisting with a flawed better value for money abroad approach.

“With the option to bring in another two players on loan before the close of the window, Newcastle have been asked to be kept informed of Liverpool’s plans for England Under-21 international Rhian Brewster.

“Arsenal striker, Eddie Nketiah, could also be a player on interest if the Gunners want to send him out on loan again.”

Will Eddie Nketiah join NUFC?

The 21-year-old spent the first half of the 2019-20 season out on loan to Leeds United in the Championship but he returned to the Emirates during the second half and managed to feature in 13 Premier League games for the Gunners.

If it was Unai Emery at the helm we would have been confident that Newcastle United will be able to land Eddie Nketiah on a loan deal for the upcoming season.

But Mikel Arteta has shown that he is ready to trust the young players next season so we doubt if the manager will allow the forward to leave, especially if the club is planning to sell Alexandre Lacazette.

Gabriel Martinelli is also ruled out of action until the end of 2020 which is another reason why the Gunners boss will not be too eager to send out Eddie Nketiah to St James’ Park.
