Man United face Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Wednesday and forward Edinson Cavani could be featuring in this midweek clash.

The trio of Paul Pogba, Juan Mata and Phil Jones remain sidelined with injuries and they are not in contention to face Palace, as confirmed by the manager.

Ole said, as per Manutd.com: “With Phil, obviously we hope [we see him in 2020/21]. He’s working really hard. He’s had a couple of setbacks. It’s just that kind of injury where you have to be patient and give him time.

“I know all about knee injuries. I’m not sure. How long is a piece of rope? That’s how I felt as well when I came back. [We’ll] give him absolutely every chance to get back this season. If not, hopefully for the start of next.

“Paul is still not ready for us, no. He’s feeling better. He’s not been training with the team yet, so he’s definitely not travelling down to London, no.”

But the manager has dropped positive news about Edinson Cavani, hinting that the South American could be in line to face Palace at Selhurst Park.

“Edi has trained this morning and hopefully there is no reaction,” the manager added. “There are another couple of knocks that we have to look at, from after the [Chelsea] game, and from the season’s wear and tear.

“It looks good. Edi has got the desire and hunger and, of course, he wants to join in, even if it’s from the bench. Hopefully he’ll say tomorrow that there’s been no reaction.”

This is great news for Solskjaer since Anthony Martial has been really underwhelming this season and right before Edison Cavani got injured, he was the first-choice centre-forward for the manager.

Now that he is back, Martial will either have to up his game or will have to spend the rest of the season warming the benches.

As far as Wednesday’s match is concerned, Edinson Cavani should be fit enough to be named in the matchday squad and should at least make an appearance from the bench.
