Emi Buendia is currently wanted by many big Premier League sides but according to 90min, it’s Arsenal who are set to get their hands on the Argentine winger.

The 24-year-old has been one of the best players in the Championship during the 2019-20 season, scoring 15 and assisting 17 goals in 39 Championship games and clubs like Everton, Wolves and Aston Villa were all eager to land him. But, in the end, Arsenal might be winning the race as they look all set to wrap up their first major transfer of the summer.

The exclusive report suggests: “Arsenal are on course to complete the signing of Norwich creator Emiliano Buendia, who favours a move to the Emirates Stadium this summer over rival interest from other Premier League sides like Aston Villa, Everton and Wolves.

“Despite interest from Aston Villa, Everton and Wolves, sources have confirmed to 90min that Buendia has his heart set on a move to Arsenal and there is a confidence on both sides that a deal will be done for the Argentine to be playing in north London next season.

“The Canaries are standing firm on a valuation that 90min understands could be as high as £40m.

“But even though Arsenal value Buendia at £30m, technical director Edu has assured manager Mikel Arteta they will land the player, who is towards the very top of their summer targets.”

Emi Buendia will obviously elevate any club which he joins but he is primarily a right-winger which is why we are not sure how he will fit into the Arsenal starting XI next season.

The Gunners already have players like Nicolas Pepe and Bukayo Saka who play in that same role so there’s no way Emi Buendia will be a guaranteed starter at the club.

Yes, he will get a bit of leverage in the first few months but if he cannot adapt to life quickly then Arteta will not think twice before pushing him down the pecking order.

Things though could be a lot different at clubs like Aston Villa, Wolves and even Everton.

Overall, if Arsenal can wrap up the signing of Emi Buendia by beating the other Premier League suitors then it will be a real statement of intent from the North London side.

UPDATE:

Now, suddenly in a major twist of events it seems like not Arsenal but Aston Villa who are likely to get their hands on the Norwich City man, as per David Ornstein. The Athletic claims that Emi Buendia is going to join Villa on Sunday.

The Athletic journalist wrote on Twitter: “Aston Villa close to completing signing of Emiliano Buendia from Norwich City. Will be club-record sale for NCFC in £30ms plus add-ons & sell-on clause. Personal terms agreed, medical done. Getafe sell-on was bought out a while ago”

Even Fabrizio Romano has given his seal of approval saying that Villa are set to wrap up the deal in the next few hours.

He wrote on Twitter: “Aston Villa are confident to complete Emi Buendia signing in the next hours, as @charles_watts reported earlier today. Arsenal opening bid was turned down days ago – AVFC now in advanced talks with Norwich , last details to complete the agreement around €35m.”

This is a massive statement of intent from Aston Villa since despite teams like Everton, Wolves and most importantly Arsenal willing to sign Emi Buendia, the Villa Park outfit went ahead and beat all the other suitors.
