La Liga giants Real Madrid along with Premier League clubs Manchester United and Liverpool have been heavily linked with Lille defender Leny Yoro but by the end of the transfer window, the youngster might end up with PSG.

The central defender has just entered the final year of his contract which is why Lille are now ready to cash in on him and according to French expert Jonathan Johnson, Paris Saint-Germain are now a serious contender.

He told Caught Off Side: “I’d also say that wherever he goes, there is a high probability that he’ll walk into the starting XI. I do think that there’s a strong argument for staying in Ligue 1 a little longer, which obviously favours PSG…

“However, it is my understanding that PSG have gained a bit of ground in trying to sign him, which is a turnaround in the situation, and it will be interesting to see what they can do to convince him that the Parc des Princes is the place for him to pledge his future.

“Yoro hails from the Paris region and that is something that could be used to PSG’s advantage. My latest understanding is that PSG are not as far away now as they were a few weeks ago in terms of being able to beat Real Madrid in the race for his signature.

“So, I wouldn’t rule PSG out of this one, but equally there are also going to be Premier League clubs keeping an eye on what happens as well, especially amid the uncertainty with French teams and the saga with the TV rights deal dragging on.”

Can PSG afford to overtake teams like Man United and Liverpool?

Like Real Madrid, Man United and Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain have also been interested in Leny Yoro for the longest time but their name hasn’t been mentioned that much.

Now, if Johnson’s updates are correct then PSG seem to have a very good chance of landing the 18-year-old.

Lille want around €60 million to allow Yoro to leave this summer and PSG won’t mind one bit paying this amount for a generational talent like him.

As per Capology, the youngster earns just €360,000 per year but Liverpool are ready to offer around €6-7 million per year along with a long-term contract. However, now that the Ligue 1 giants have gotten Kylian Mbappe off their books, they won’t mind paying a lucrative salary either.

Real Madrid might hesitate to match such wages because as per reports, they are not even ready to meet Lille’s €60 million demands. They feel Lille are asking too much for someone whose contract will expire in 2025.

Manchester United are also on the lookout for a new central defender and they think Leny Yoro fits the brief perfectly and can be the long-term replacement for Raphael Varane. However, most experts believe they are not going to go on a spending spree under the new INEOS owners. Several times in the past, the Red Devils have paid what’s called the ‘United tax’ but they are no longer going to be held hostage, as per media claims.

Is Leny Yoro going to snub teams like Madrid and choose PSG?

With PSG, Leny Yoro will have the chance to remain in the Ligue 1 but we doubt if the 18-year-old wants to remain in France for the longest time.

The centre-back has all the talents to become a future superstar and he thinks he has the highest chance of success at Real Madrid. He is very keen to join the Los Blancos which is why the Spanish side have till now been the favourites.

However, it will be really interesting to see what happens when PSG come in with a mega salary offer.

Now that Madrid have Mbappe on their books there’s no way they can offer €10-12 million to an incoming defender and if Leny Yoro is chasing a hefty package then there’s every chance he is going to reject Madrid and also the two Premier League clubs.

Man United and Liverpool are of the view that Real Madrid are currently the favourites to land the Lille defender but now that PSG have set the ball rolling, the Parisian giants indeed have a great chance of moving to the front of the queue.
