Arsenal took on Leicester City in the third-round of the EFL Cup on Wednesday but midfielder Lucas Torreira did not play any part in the match.

The South American has been linked with a move out of the Emirates for a number of months now and his omission from this game has made many people believe that Torreira is finally on his way out.

Mikel Arteta though did not want to accept the fact that his selection was based on player transfers.

He said after the match: “I am not making decisions because players might leave or stay, it is just for the players we see every day who are in the best possible condition to compete and get us closer to winning football matches.

“I cannot discuss any internal things.”

Where is Lucas Torreira heading to?

Lucas Torreira was initially wanted by AC Milan and Torino but the San Siro outfit have since backed out meaning Torino were running a one-horse race up until now.

But now as per the latest reports, Spanish giants Atletico Madrid are also interested in signing the Arsenal outcast before the transfer window shuts next month.

The Independent reports: “Lucas Torreira is verging on a move away from Arsenal before the transfer window closes next month, with both Atletico Madrid and Torino expressing a firm interest in the Uruguayan midfielder.”

It’s still unclear which club will get their hands on Torreira but Atletico are yet to make a formal offer to Arsenal.

After the snub vs Leicester, it’s pretty evident that Lucas Torreira has no future at the Emirates and Mikel Arteta has already sanctioned his sale.

Now what remains to be seen is how much can Arsenal get out of the transfer of the Uruguayan since two big clubs are keeping tabs on him.
