Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is keeping tabs on Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount, according to a report in The Sun.
Yes, as bizarre as it may sound but the Sun is claiming that the new United boss is a fan of the England international and has asked his management to keep tabs on the 23-year-old’s current contract situation.
Mason Mount has two more years left on his current deal with Chelsea and while the Blues want to tie him down to a new deal but all talks of a new contract have been stalled due to the takeover.
Mason Mount has seen a very steady rise for the Blues and this season, he’s scored 11 goals and provided 10 assists in just 32 Premier League games. He is one of the best young attacking midfielders in England right now so it’s no surprise that ETH seems to like him.

Manchester United will definitely test the waters if someone as good as Mason Mount is up for sale but so will a host of other top clubs.

Also, Chelsea’s sale is more or less complete and once the takeover is done, one of the priorities for Thomas Tuchel will be to offer contract extensions to key players like Mason Mount, Reece James and a few others.
Tuchel knows how valuable Mount is to his plans and since he’s reportedly ready to sell the likes of Werner, Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech, the last thing he will want is to cash in on Mason Mount as well.
This news has come out in the Sun so we should be taking it with a pinch of salt because Manchester United will find it next to impossible to sign Mason Mount – not at least in this transfer window.
We also think that Ten Hag’s priority is to sign a central midfield and not an attacking midfielder because he’s already got Bruno Fernandes and Donny van de Beek will also be coming back from his loan spell.
Man United are much more likely to focus on midfielders like Frenkie de Jong, Ruben Neves and Kalvin Phillips.
