Philippe Coutinho

Liverpool are ready to contest Everton and Wolves in trying to sign Philippe Coutinho as Barcelona look to offload the Brazilian international.

According to Francesc Aguilar, the three Premier League sides are really keen to sign the playmaker with Liverpool being the most interested amongst the lot.

He wrote on Twitter: “Kia Joorabchian, Philippe Coutinho’s agent, is working against the clock in search of a Premier League team for the Brazilian.

“Wolverhampton, Everton and Liverpool have been interested in the Brazilian. His former team, Liverpool, seem the most determined.”

Is Philippe Coutinho coming back to the Premier League?

Philippe Coutinho moved to Barcelona from Liverpool in 2018 in a big-money move but his career has taken a downward slide ever since joining the La Liga side. In 80 La Liga appearances, the playmaker has scored only 19 and assisted 11 goals.

Coutinho has failed to replicate his form from England and now with Barcelona eager to slash their wage bills, the club are more than willing to cash in on him this summer.

Everton and Wolves have been keeping tabs on this whole situation for quite some time but now that Liverpool are interested in bringing him back, the other two English sides will find it really hard to convince Philippe Coutinho to join them.

According to TransferMarkt, the 29-year-old is valued at £27 million and given his poor form in the past few years, Barcelona should be willing to let him leave on a bargain deal.

Everton need to add depth to their midfield while Wolves are eyeing Philippe Coutinho in case Ruben Neves decides to move out.

Many pundits and fans believe Jurgen Klopp will not want to take back the Brazilian international but we think if the transfer fee is right then the manager will be more than happy to reinstate him.

If the report is correct then Liverpool are obviously the frontrunners in this deal and since they are in the Champions League as well, it will be really hard for Everton and Wolves to jump the queue.
