According to a report in Give Me Sport, Premier League side Manchester City want to bring in Real Madrid forward Rodrygo as a replacement for Julian Alvarez.

City have sold Alvarez to Atletico Madrid in a mega deal and now they are scouting various players to come in and fill the Argentine’s gap. Man City do have several names on their wishlist but as per multiple reports, Guardiola is eager to sign the Real Madrid man.

Rodrygo has been with Real Madrid since 2019 and so far, he’s played in 145 La Liga matches for the Los Blancos. Rodrygo has not been able to become a regular feature under Carlo Ancelotti and things are going to get a whole lot tougher because Madrid have now signed Kylian Mbappe and Endrick.

Man City feel the arrival of these two players will push Rodrygo down the pecking order which is why if they can offer a good enough transfer price, Madrid could green light an exit.

Will Real Madrid agree to sell Rodrygo?

The forward might not be a regular starter for Madrid but last season, he scored 17 goals in 51 appearances and despite all the exit rumours, Rodrygo has made it clear that he does not want to leave the Bernabeu anytime soon.

“To be very direct, I am VERY happy at Real Madrid, I live a dream every day and it does NOT cross my mind to leave the club of my life!”, the forward said a few weeks ago. “Now we continue with history to be made.”

The arrival of the new stars will definitely make things harder for Rodrygo but there’s no indication that Carlo Ancelotti wants to get rid of the Brazilian international. Rodrygo can play as a secondary striker, a right-winger and also as a left-winger and his versatility is something that is an asset for the Madrid manager.

Also, both Mbappe and Endrick will need time to settle down at the club so the manager won’t risk losing Rodrygo this summer. Kylian Mbappe might be accustomed to playing at the top level but young Endrick will need one or two seasons to settle himself in Europe and during that time, he will most probably be used in rotation with his Brazilian teammate.

After Alvarez’s sale to Atletico Madrid, Manchester City won’t mind spending €110-120 million on a player like Rodrygo but there’s little to no chance that Florentino Perez is going to allow him to leave this time around.
