Premier League side Everton FC are interested in signing Manchester United’s second-choice keeper Sergio Romero this summer, as per The Mirror.

The exclusive report claims: “Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti is interested in bringing Manchester United’s Argentinian international keeper Sergio Romero to Goodison Park.

“The Italian wants to put pressure on Jordan Pickford, the England man having failed to impress Ancelotti last season.

“Pickford made a number of expensive mistakes and Ancelotti feels that competition for places will help sharpen him up.

“Romero has become frustrated at Old Trafford having been used sparingly, usually in cup ties, during his five years with the club.”

Everton are not the only top division club interested in signing the Argentine as newly-promoted side Leeds United also keeping an eye on the situation.

Sergio Romero has not hinted at an exit but with Dean Henderson signing a new deal, it’s clear that the 33-year-old’s days at the club are numbered.

And now with two big Premier League sides interested in signing him, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer might very well sanction his exit in the coming weeks.

During the 2019-20 season, Romero did not play a single Premier League game for Manchester United and all of his 17 appearances for the side came in cup and European competitions.
