Steven Gerrard wants Filip Helander at Aston Villa

Rangers FC manager Steven Gerrard took charge of the Scottish club two years ago and as per Football Insider, Birmingham City want to lure him out this summer.

The report claims: “Birmingham City have made a sensational move to appoint Rangers boss Steven Gerrard as their new manager, Football Insider can reveal.

“The Championship outfit are in the market for a new manager after announcing the departure of Pep Clotet earlier this month.

“Clotet has confirmed he will leave the Blues at the end of the current campaign. He will first oversee the club’s remaining eight games and then leave the Midlands club.

“A Birmingham source has told Football Insider that the club have approached Gerrard to assess his interest in talking over this summer.”

The interest from the Championship side is surely a lucrative offer but the report also makes it clear that Steven Gerrard has no intentions of vacating his position at Rangers right now and his entire focus is on dethroning Celtic next season.

But this interest from an English side is a big indication that the Gers might not be able to hold onto their manager for too long.

Everyone knew that Rangers was kind of a pitstop for Gerrard on his way to managing in the Premier League but if he fails to win a silverware in Scotland next season then this progress could come as early as next summer.
