Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had to warm the benches during Arsenal’s 2-1 win over Spurs in the Premier League on Sunday as the forward was left out of the line-up because he showed up late before the match.

Due to COVID protocols, all the Arsenal players are required to reach the ground on their own which is the single biggest reason why Aubameyang took his own sweet time to get to the Emirates.

While discussing the forward’s omission from the starting XI, Arteta said: “Because for me they are the foundation and the platform that we can build something medium and long-term that is sustainable and that can bring us joy and happiness.

“Without that, I don’t believe that it would happen. That’s why I keep talking about it and acting about it.

“I made what I thought was the right decision and we draw a line there and now let’s move on again. We know how important Auba is for us and for the the club and that’s it. It’s been dealt with, now let’s move on.”

Many people have since come out to back the Arsenal boss for maintaining proper standards inside the dressing by using Aubameyang as an example. But now according to a Twitter user, the reason for the Gabon international being late might be quite genuine.

Peter King, who is a director, has posted photographic evidence of Aubameyang being stuck in traffic.

He wrote on Twitter: “If anyone is wondering why Aubameyang was disciplined for being late for the match today, this is him stuck in traffic at 12.04 in Muswell Hill!”

This reason might very well be authentic which means Aubameyang should have gotten away with only a fine but a lot of people have pointed out that this may not be the first time that the Arsenal frontman has been undisciplined.
