Is this why David De Gea has been performing poorly for Man United this season?

Man United keeper David De Gea has endured a really tough time at the club during the ongoing season. But according to Peter Schmeichel, it’s Ole’s new setup which seems to be causing problems for the Spanish keeper.

The Man United legend has explained how David De Gea needs time to adjust to the new ways at the club and the fact that all these mistakes are part of the learning process.

He told beIN Sports, as reported: “De Gea’s one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League for the last I don’t know how many year.

“One of the things I believe is that the way Ole’s changed the way the team plays hasn’t fitted in with the way that De Gea has played in the last couple of years and so he would have had to make changes to his game.

“And in making changes you’re always making mistakes. If you don’t make mistakes, you don’t really learn.

“They’ve now got third place, they’ve got the Europa League to focus on now, he comes back with a couple of weeks break, comes back to a new season, he’ll be alright.

“I see David de Gea as the goalkeeper for Manchester United for many years to come and I think he has been treated unfairly in all honesty.”

David De Gea has been Man United’s best players over the past couple of seasons but this year his form has seen a massive dip.

Many pundits have urged the manager to send the keeper out during the summer and bring in Dean Henderson as his No 1 next campaign.

While Henderson has done really well at Sheffield United but we do not think Ole will be ready to bench or sell De Gea so easily.
