Gareth Bale returned to Tottenham Hotspur for a second spell, this time on loan from Real Madrid but he’s really had to struggle to prove his worth to Jose Mourinho.

Bale scored two goals and provided a beautiful assist against Burnley during the weekend and it finally looks like he’s in a happy place. And speaking about the Welshman’s struggles, Noel Whelan has claimed that Gareth Bale wanted everything on a plate when he came back to England.

He told Football Insider: “Well, there are two ways of looking at. It doesn’t matter who you’re up against, you’ve still got to produce a performance.

“Sometimes you see players putting in less of a performance against lesser sides and who can’t raise their game. He’s now in a place where we are seeing the best of Gareth Bale again.

“Two goals, a great assist with that pass into Kane and he looks like he’s in a happy place. The only reason he is in a happy place is because he’s playing.

“No player’s ever happy when they’re not playing, especially when you come from a club like Real Madrid to sit on the bench.”

Gareth Bale was warming the benches when he first joined Spurs on loan and most of his nine Premier League appearances have come off the bench.

The 31-year-old looked all set to fail under Jose Mourinho’s regime but thankfully, he has managed to turn things around and after the Burnley game, the manager will surely consider him for starts more regularly.

Next up, Spurs take on Fulham at Craven Cottage in the Premier League and Gareth Bale is more or less a guaranteed starter for this match thanks to his performance against Sean Dyche’s side.
