Man United picked up a 5-2 win against AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League and once again Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes bossed the game.
Since the pair have started playing together, Man United have looked a completely different side, one which might just be able to challenge for the Premier League title next season.
And according to Rio Ferdinand, the fact that Bruno Fernandes has been sharing the pressure has helped Paul Pogba get back his confidence on the pitch.
“Pogba has been a totally different player since the restart,” Ferdinand told BT Sport, as reported. “The energy levels in his game… it’s the Pogba United paid £89m for four years ago.
“A big factor is undoubtedly the man he is playing with in the centre of midfield – Bruno Fernandes.
“Pogba will not want to be shown up out there and that’s perhaps the motivation he needed. Solskjaer will be absolutely loving what’s he seeing from those two.
“Fernandes is just doing what comes naturally to him and it’s been a huge boost to Pogba’s form – it’s freed him up to play as well.
“There’s probably less pressure on him now because he knows that some of the burden of expectation is being shouldered by Fernandes.”
Paul Pogba has been playing the same role which he does for the French national side – a bit further down the pitch while Fernandes works his magic closer to the opponent’s goal.
And not only has the Frenchman found back his form but he has been playing a much more disciplined role, something which we have hardly seen from while playing under Jose Mourinho.
Now the big question is whether the Man United manager and the board can convince him to remain at the club beyond the summer and help them get back amongst the Champions League high rollers.
