Chelsea signed Timo Werner from RB Leipzig during the previous summer transfer window and the 24-year-old was supposed to be one of the two marquee signings for the Premier League side.

But so far, the German has turned out to be a major disappointment for Chelsea, scoring just five goals in 24 matches in the league. While his performances have improved somewhat in the past few weeks under the new manager but according to Glen Johnson, the forward will find his rhythm once he gets his confidence back.

“I think he’s a threat,” Johnson told the Metro.

“He’s super quick, he’s direct. I think where he’s dropped in confidence, his decision-making has gone wrong.

“People underestimate the Premier League. It’s not easy for people to be playing in other leagues with a big reputation to turn up in the Premier League and hit the ground running – it’s not as easy as that.

“I think Werner will become a good player for them. He’s struggled at the moment but he’s still getting the chances, even if he’s missing.”

A lot of top players have fallen prey to the Premier League in the past and Timo Werner looks be heading in that same direction.

One of the reasons why Abramovich chose to bring in Thomas Tuchel was so that he can help Werner get his form back. And so far, the new boss is trying his best to reshape the forward’s career in England.

Timo Werner still has four years left on his current deal with Chelsea so he is not at risk of being sold in the summer but Tuchel is planning to buy a new forward and if someone like Erling Halaand does arrive then the 24-year-old will fall down the pecking order and will be limited to playing only the fringe matches next season.
