Victor Osimhen joined Lille last summer for a fee of £10.80 million but after just a single season in France, he could be on his way out of the club.

During the current campaign, the 21-year-old centre-forward has netted 13 goals and provided five assists in just 27 Ligue 1 matches and this seems to have caught the interest of a number of big European clubs.

And Lille president Gerard Lopez has admitted that a number of prominent sides, including ones from the Premier League, are eager to sign the forward.

“There are multiple offers,” he told the Daily Mail. “We turned down one English and one Spanish offer this January transfer window.

“There is a wide array [this summer] and I wouldn’t want to give the names of the clubs who are bidding but what I can tell you is that there are multiple [offers]. There are three championships that have clubs that have bid for him.”

Is Victor Osimhen on his way to the Premier League?

English sides like Leicester City, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are said to be keeping tabs on Victor Osimhen but there are two major reasons why the Nigerian international is not likely to join a Premier League side.

The first big reason why Osimhen is not heading to England is the fact that apart from these three PL clubs, teams like Real Madrid and Barcelona are also keen to sign him up.

And if either of these two Spanish giants come calling, the Nigerian is sure to snub any interest from teams like the Foxes or even Arsenal.

The second and perhaps the most important reason why a move to the Premier League is not going to happen is that Lille might quote around £70 million as transfer fee – the same they charged for Nicolas Pepe.

Gerard Lopez has said: “I am not being a sales guy because last year people didn’t believe that we had the offers we had with [Nicolas] Pepe and it turns out we had multiple of them.

“Let me tell you with Osimhen, it is the same thing, whatever number you heard, the high number I have read is very much on the money of the offers that we have received. That’s where we are.”

And if this statement is true then all the three Premier League clubs have already fallen out of the race to sign Victor Osimhen during the summer.
