Brighton and Hove midfielder Yves Bissouma has garnered interest from big clubs like Liverpool and Arsenal in the past few months but with each passing day, this transfer saga seems to be getting more murkier.
Yves Bissouma has been a solid figure in the middle of the park for Brighton this season which is why Jurgen Klopp wants him as the long-term replacement to Wijnaldum. And on the other hand, Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is eager to bring him in to partner with Thomas Partey next season.
But in a recent update, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano had claimed that Arsenal are no longer interested in signing the 24-year-old but Liverpool firmly remain in the race.
This was obviously great news for all the Liverpool fans since Yves Bissouma could be the next big thing at Anfield but now there has been another twist in the tale.
According to The Athletic’s James Pearce, while Liverpool do want to bring in a central midfielder during the summer but the name of Yves Bissouma does not happen to be on that list.
Is Yves Bissouma staying at Brighton next season?
Brighton would love to hold onto the Mali international beyond the summer and this news comes right at the time when Liverpool are said to be scouting Leicester City’s Youri Tielemans.
Arsenal have also backed off from this transfer since they were focusing more on Edouardo Camavinga but now that Liverpool have dropped their interest, there’s every chance Arteta might come back for Bissouma.
Liverpool have Champions League football to offer so they can easily target all the big fish in the market which is will obviously give preference to players like Tielemans over Yves Bissouma.
But for Arsenal things will not be so simple and they will have to make gamble signings this summer just to save money. And at this point in time, the Brighton man looks a much safer bet than Rennes’ Camavinga.
Yes, Camavinga has done great in the Ligue 1 this season but Yves Bissouma has proved himself at the Premier League stage which is a key factor for a club like Arsenal who are looking to get back into the top-four as soon as possible.
