Manchester City are keen to make a move for Real Madrid misfit Isco who also happens to be a transfer target for Premier League rivals Arsenal, as per a report in Mundo Deportivo.

The report claims: “Although Zidane always repeats that no one would leave for him, the truth is that there are players from the current squad who have a lot of numbers to leave the white discipline this January. The candidates are Isco, Jovic and Odriozola.

“Isco is the only one who has already let Real Madrid know that he wants to leave the team in search of the minutes he does not have with Zidane.

“Isco wants to leave this January and there are interested teams, such as Juventus, City and Naples, but the player who wants to go is Lopetegui’s Sevilla.”

Isco joined Real Madrid with a lot of promise back in 2013 but the 28-year-old has always been a fringe player for the Los Blancos. This season, the attacking midfielder has featured in only 10 league matches under Zidane and most of them have come off the bench.

Real Madrid are more than happy to part ways with Isco this month and up until now, Arsenal were planning to sign him up – unchallenged.

But this fresh interest from Pep Guardiola has really caused major roadblocks for the Gunners since Manchester City have money to spare in the transfer market.

Also, City have not made the best of starts to the 2020-21 campaign and the owners are sure to back their manager with some fresh recruits during the January transfer window.

With Ozil out of favour and Dani Ceballos not living up to the hype, Mikel Arteta is really desperate to add a new attacking midfielder to his ranks for the second half of the season.

Up until now, Isco was a very simple and straight forward choice but the entry of Manchester City means Arsenal will either have to battle it out with the Etihad outfit or swiftly shift their focus to an alternate transfer target.
