Arsenal and Chelsea are both planning to sign a new midfielder during the January transfer window.
While Emery is looking for someone who can replace Mesut Ozil, Chelsea, on the other hand, are trying to find a long-term replacement for Mateo Kovacic since the Real Madrid loanee’s contract does not include a buy out clause.
And earlier this week it was being reported that both the London clubs have set their eyes on Real Madrid man Isco.
Isco has failed to cement a regular spot in the starting lineup ever since he joined the club and now reports are suggesting that Florentino Perez has finally decided to offload him.
The Los Blancos reportedly want somewhere in the region of £100 million which is far more than what Chelsea and Arsenal are ready to pay.
While the Blues are planning to approach with an offer of £70 million, Arsenal are hoping that a swap deal between Isco and Mesut Ozil along with some cash will do the job.
But now according to the latest report, Isco is not really interested in joining either of these clubs and instead wants to play under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.
Isco feels he will be able to play the footballing style he desires only if he joins the defending champions but as of yet, there has been no interest from Pep Guardiola’s camp.
Isco was linked with the Citizens during the summer but we doubt if City will be willing to spend so much of money during the middle of the season – more so when everything is going smoothly for Pep Guardiola.
But then on the other hand, if Perez is really serious about offloading Isco next month itself then City will surely not let this golden opportunity go by.
