Jack Grealish to Man City
Jack Grealish playing for Aston Villa

Aston Villa will take on Liverpool in the Premier League this weekend and up until now, Jack Grealish was a major doubt for the clash.

Jack Grealish has been one of the star performers for Villa so far this season having started each and every match for Dean Smith. And to justify his starts the 24-year-old has so far scored two goals and made three assists in the league.

But he picked up a knock in the 3-0 defeat at Manchester City last weekend and later it was revealed he had sustained a calf injury.

As a result of the calf injury, Jack Grealish had to sit out Villa’s Carabao Cup victory over Wolves on Wednesday and there were doubts over his participation vs Liverpool.

Now though, the Aston Villa manager has calmed a lot of anxious nerves saying the midfielder has responded well to treatment and should be fit in time to face Liverpool.

Dean Smith said after the Wolves win: “He’s OK. He’ll be pushing to be fit for Saturday. He wasn’t fit (for Wolves) but I wouldn’t have picked him anyway. He’s responded really well.

“I never worry too much when it’s a contact injury, a dead calf – he’s got a small bleed on his calf and he’s responded well to treatment.”

The return of Jack Grealish will surely be a huge boost for Aston Villa since the player has been a key piece in Smith’s tactics this season.

Villa might have lost their previous league game to Man City but they tend to play attacking football at home and we doubt if that will change when Liverpool come to town.

But one major concern for the home side is that they have also conceded 16 goals so far this season and the fact that Liverpool have such a formidable front line, it will be really difficult to stop Jurgen Klopp’s men from scoring.
