Jack Grealish to Man City
Jack Grealish playing for Aston Villa

Man City went out and spent a fortune to sign Jack Grealish from Aston Villa last summer but the England international has failed to live up to the hype so far.

City paid a staggering £100million for his services, signing him on a six-year deal but the winger has failed to even cement a regular spot in the starting lineup this season.

According to a report in the Football Insider, the Man City management are of the view that they should have gone after Tottenham’s Harry Kane instead of splurging money on Jack Grealish.

City were interested in Kane for the longest time but when they realised that they wouldn’t be able to sign the Spurs frontman, they went ahead and signed Grealish from Villa.

Has Jack Grealish been a flop at Man City?

With a £100million price tag on his shoulders, it was a given that Jack Grealish would play 90 minutes every week but so far he’s being used in tandem with Raheem Sterling. He’s started 15 games in the Premier League this season but he’s been subbed out in seven of those.

By no means is the 26-year-old a flop signing but in the 16 PL games which he’s played, he’s scored just two and assisted another two goals.

Such a massive transfer fee means he should be atleast scoring in double digits, especially when he’s playing for Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City. He still has a long way to go in this stint of his career and we are sure he is going to come good. Having said that, when a club is paying such crazy amounts for a winger, they expect him to hit fifth gear immediately.

Will Man City go after Harry Kane in the summer?

Daniel Levy worked really hard to hold onto Harry Kane but we are more than certain that Manchester City will try and sign him once again next summer.

Guardiola badly needs a world-class centre-forward and with Haaland setting his sights on Real Madrid, Harry Kane could be the only viable option left for the Spanish manager.

Conte’s taken charge at Spurs now so he will have a huge influence on whether Kane moves out or not but despite Man City spending £100million on Jack Grealish, they can very much afford to spend a similar sort of fee on the Spurs forward.

If Tottenham can secure a Champions League spot for the next season then Antonio Conte will a prominent chance at fending off interest from Man City.
