Why Man United are not the favourites to sign this 25 Y/O playmaker: Heading somewhere else?

Jack Grealish playing for Aston Villa

Jack Grealish has been one of the most-wanted English players over the past year and a half but according to Rio Ferdinand, Manchester United might not be the favourites to sign.

Man United were said to be really close to signing the England international last year but somehow that deal did not materialize. And this time around, the Old Trafford outfit face competition from teams like Chelsea and Manchester City.

Ole is expected to renew his interest in Jack Grealish this summer as well but according to Ferdinand, Man United need to make space before they move for the Aston Villa man.

Ferdinand said, as per Football London: “But I don’t even think (Bruno) Fernandes that’s the problem (for the move to happen). You’ve got Rashford and Pogba that are both playing on the left, which is where Jack plays.

“Jack’s best position is on the left, and the next best position you’d imagine would be number 10.

“They’re the positions where our most influential players in terms of attacking positions are, so I think it’s difficult to see him at Manchester United right now.

“Unless they ship one or two of the boys away, I see it as a difficult deal to be done.”

Jack Grealish to join Chelsea or Manchester City?

Chelsea and Manchester City are the two other sides who have been linked with the Villa man and right now, both these sides will take Jack Grealish with open arms.

The Blues are looking for attacking reinforcements this summer but we doubt if they will make a move for him since they need to bring in a new striker and that will cost them a lot of money.

Jack Grealish is valued at around £90-100 million by Aston Villa and we are sure Chelsea will not be ready to spend so much money, especially when the London side are being linked with strikers like Harry Kane and Erling Haaland.

Man City also need to bring in a new striker to replace Aguero but unlike Chelsea, they can afford to spend big on multiple players.

But the big problem for Pep Guardiola will be the fact that like United, he too has too many players who play on the left wing and before he can make a move for Grealish, the City boss will have to sell a few players.

During the 2020-21 season, Jack Grealish played only 26 Premier League due to a few injury setbacks but still, he managed to score six and provide 12 assists.
