Man United have been desperately trying to bring Jadon Sancho to Old Trafford from Borussia Dortmund by the end of this month but according to Steve McClaren, the Premier League side should focus elsewhere.
McClaren said, via talkSPORT: “They’re not far away, but they have to spend the money and get the right players.
“I’ve seen Jadon Sancho play a lot for Dortmund and he’s very, very exciting, but he’s a little bit like Martial, Rashford and Greenwood and I wonder, do they really need that?
“He’s not a number nine, and Martial, Rashford and Greenwood aren’t number nines either. You’ve got to get a fox in the box, a goalscorer and number nine and they’ve got to find one quick.
“Yes, Sancho would improve the squad, but to win big games and to win cups, you need a number nine and you need two damn good centre-backs.
“[Erling] Haaland would have been perfect; a young talented striker, a number nine who can play under pressure – they’re difficult to find.
“Harry Kane, will they get him out of Tottenham? I doubt it very much, but they need someone of that ilk.”
Man United are still treading in deep waters as far as the signing of Jadon Sancho is concerned and it’s Dortmund’s unusually high demand which is causing the major dilemma for the English side.
There is NO problem agreeing Jadon Sancho's wages with Manchester United. Personal terms were already agreed weeks ago and the player wants to join.
The problem is paying what Dortmund demand, which is €120m.

Obviously Jadon Sancho is not the only player whom Man United want to sign this summer and we are sure the club is working on all the other targets behind the scene.
But as things stand, the Sancho saga seems to have taken centre-stage and until this deal is resolved, the European media will not move onto another story.
Also, while Solskjaer would love to sign a No9 before the new season begins but unfortunately there are not too many world-class centre-forwards available in the market right now.
