Barcelona are still on the hunt for a new left-winger and according to a report in Sport, the Spanish giants are thinking of making a move for Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho.
Sancho resolved his strained relationship with Erik ten Hag but the England international is still very much down the pecking order. Even though he has been training with the rest of the squad there are reports that Man United are open to selling the winger before deadline day.
United had spent €85 million to bring him to the Premier League from Borussia Dortmund but Jadon Sancho has failed to replicate his form from Germany. The Red Devils are now looking to cut their losses but their price tag of €42 million is making it hard to find a permanent buyer.
On the other side, Barcelona are struggling to make permanent signings but they are in desperate need of a new left-winger which is why they are planning to offer a loan move for Sancho. Nico Williams, Luis Diaz, Marcus Rashford and Kingsley Coman have all been on Barca’s radar this summer but lack of funds has tied their hands.
Should Barcelona try and bring Jadon Sancho on board?
Jadon Sancho might have mended bridges with Erik ten Hag but the England international is still being given a cold shoulder but his manager.
He has been with Man United since 2021 but the winger has played in only 83 games for the club. From 2017 till 2021, Sancho was sensational for Borussia Dortmund but with MUFC, he’s made only 18 goal contributions.
Last season, he returned to BVB on a loan spell but even there, he failed to impress.
Ideally, Barcelona will want to bring in someone who is in top form and Jadon Sancho is not that man. However, the English winger is still only 24 years old and he has lots of time to improve. La Liga is a lot simpler than the Premier League which means the winger will get a lot more room to show his talents under Hansi Flick.
A loan move won’t burden Barca’s finances but Jadon Sancho has an annual salary of around €18 million at Manchester United and this is something that will be very hard for the Catalans to match. If Man United agree to pay a part of Sancho’s salary only then will Barca be able to bring him on board.
It is still unclear what Jadon Sancho thinks about a loan move to Barcelona but his career at United has hit a dead end and if he wants to forward his career then he has to leave before the end of this month.
