3 PL clubs want to sign this €100m left-winger: Who needs him more?

Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens could be available for transfer this summer, with three of the Premier League’s biggest clubs interested in signing him, as per Bild.

Following Dortmund’s 2-0 defeat to Bochum, Gittens was subjected to verbal abuse from the fans, and this has raised further doubts over his future at the club. Also, Champions League qualification is looking increasingly difficult for the German side and if they cannot hold onto their UCL status, they will have to sell several players in order to cover the losses.

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with the former Man City academy man for some time and recently, Arsenal and Chelsea are also keeping tabs on the winger. Barcelona were also interested in signing Jamie Gittens, but due to financial constraints, they are not expected to pursue him at the end of this season.

BVB currently value the 20-year-old winger at around €100 million, despite his market valuation being closer to €50 million. However, since his contract runs until 2028, Dortmund are in a strong position to demand a premium fee.

Which Premier League Club Needs Jamie Gittens the Most?

Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs have been tracking Jamie Gittens for a long time, viewing him as a potential successor to Son Heung-min. Son has been a key figure at the club, but his form has dipped this season which has led to speculations that Tottenham may cash in on him this summer. However, Daniel Levy is unlikely to spend €100 million on a single player, making Spurs the least likely destination.

Arsenal

Arsenal already have Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard on the left flank, but both have struggled for consistency this season. While the Gunners have the financial strength to pull off the transfer, their priority remains signing a new centre-forward, which could push Gittens lower on their wishlist. They will ideally want to bring in one or maybe two strikers and only then will the management hunt for their other targets.

Chelsea

Chelsea appear to be the best-placed club to sign Gittens. Enzo Maresca is expected to oversee a mini overhaul, with players like Mykhailo Mudryk struggling for form and Jadon Sancho failing to impress. The Blues are also set to sell multiple first-team players, which would free up funds for a potential €100 million arrival of Jamie Gittens.

At first glance, Arsenal and Chelsea seem like the most viable destinations, especially with Tottenham likely to miss out on Champions League football which is going to be a major factor in Gittens’ decision-making process.

The England U21 international has been one of Dortmund’s bright sparks, contributing 30 goal involvements since joining the senior side. This season in the Champions League, he has already scored twice and provided five assists, while in 22 Bundesliga appearances, he has an xA of 3.67 and has created 18 major chances.
