According to journalist Dean Jones, Arsenal are interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen’s 22-year-old full-back Jeremie Frimpong.

Ben White has done a wonderful job at right-back for the Gunners this season but his backup Takehiro Tomiyasu has not been up to the mark. Tomiyasu has not been in great form this season and his recent injury has ruled him out for the rest of the season.

It’s not a secret that Mikel Arteta is going to strengthen his squad during the summer transfer window and as per Jones, Jeremie Frimpong is now emerging as a serious target.

The 22-year-old is a product of the Manchester City youth academy and in 2021, he joined Bayer Leverkusen from Celtic for a fee of €11 million. He’s played in 25 Bundesliga games this season, scoring seven and assisting six goals.

According to TransferMarkt, his current market value is just €25 million which makes him a really lucrative target for Arsenal. Manchester United have also been linked with the Netherlands international but there’s nothing concrete yet. Ten Hag has Dalot and Wan-Bissaka in his ranks so before he tries to sign a new right-back, the Man United boss will have to decide the fate of either of these two players.

Ben White has been the first-choice right-back for the whole season and a major reason for that is due to Tomiyasu’s average performances. Arteta would love to add competition in that position and someone like Jeremie Frimpong will be the ideal candidate.

Obviously, the Bundesliga and the Premier League are two totally different worlds but Jeremie Frimpong has developed at Manchester City so he is somewhat aware of the playing style in England.

The defender has an attacking mindset plus he is technically very good which is why we have a feeling the 22-year-old can be a perfect fit into Mikel Arteta’s system.

Ben White has been rock solid this season but without a proper competitor, the England international is going to grow complacent so someone like Jeremie Frimpong will be a very important signing in the summer.
