Chelsea have reached an agreement to sign defender Jerome Boateng during the summer transfer window, according to a report in Todofijaches.

The report claims: “Chelsea continue to have Jerome Boateng in their sights.

“The German international was already Frank Lampard’s target in the past market and now with the arrival of Tuchel on the bench he remains on the agenda.

“According to the information we handle at TodoFichajes, Chelsea has reached an agreement with the player’s agent.

“The Blues have been maturing the operation for some time and if nothing goes wrong they will arrive in London at cost when the defender finds himself in his last year of contract with Bayern Munich.”

Jerome Boateng coming to Chelsea?

Jerome Boateng has been a stellar performer for Bayern Munich ever since he joined the club from Manchester City in 2011.

But the 32-year-old is surely heading out of the club this season as his contract comes to an end and if everything goes according to plan then we should see him playing for Chelsea next season.

Thiago Silva has added a lot of stability to the Blues backline this campaign and someone like Jerome Boateng will be the best possible partner for the Brazilian.

Not a lot of clubs have shown an interest in signing the German international and Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic had recenly hinted that the centre-back is likely to leave as a free agent this summer.

“We all know Jerome has a contract until June 30, 2021. We will talk to Jerome and his management at a reasonable time. We’ll come to a fair decision for everyone,” Salihamidzic told Sky Germany. “This is not an issue for us at the moment.”

It’s highly unlikely that Jerome Boateng is going to put pen on paper to a new deal at Bayern and if Chelsea can secure Champions League qualification for next season, then they should not have any major issues in bringing the centre-back to Stamford Bridge.
