West Ham have beaten other PL clubs to agree on a deal for this England international: A much-needed signing?

In 2021, Jesse Lingard had a very successful loan spell with West Ham United and according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth, the forward is going to return to the London Stadium.

Lingard left Manchester United once his contract expired at the end of last season and despite several Premier League clubs wanting to sign him, the 29-year-old seems to have chosen the Hammers.

“West Ham United in negotiation with Jesse Lingard’s representatives – growing feeling the player will choose to return to the club,” Sheth said on Twitter.

“Has other Premier League offers.”

Jesse Lingard spent the second half of the 20/21 season on loan with West Ham United and during this time he had managed to score nine goals in 16 appearances for the club.

However, he could not return to London the previous season and neither could he find a place in the first XI at Manchester United.

This summer he was one of the first players to leave Old Trafford as he was clearly not in Erik ten Hag’s plans but the 29-year-old can be of great use to David Moyes.

Clubs like Everton and Newcastle United have also been linked with the forward but it looks like he has chosen to return to a side where he’s familiar with the surroundings.

He’s a player who’s valued by David Moyes and under him, Lingard is expected to get a lot more game time than at Everton or Newcastle.

West Ham United won’t have to pay any transfer fee for the England international and due to this, Jesse Lingard will be demanding a hefty salary package.

This could be a point of concern for the Hammers because he’s already 29 years old and last season, he started only two Premier League games for Manchester United. He’s been completely out of touch and form in the previous year so it will definitely be a gamble if Moyes is willing to make him one of the higher-paid players in his squad.
