Joao Felix has been tipped to leave Atletico Madrid this month and it looks like the 23-year-old is about to join the Premier League.

Atletico Madrid have to offload players in order to balance their books and Joao Felix is one of those who has attracted a lot of interest in the previous few weeks. The likes of Manchester United and Arsenal have been trying really hard to lure him in and for both these clubs, the striker has been a priority signing.

However, as per the latest reports, Felix is about to snub both these sides and join Chelsea on a loan deal.

As per David Ornstein, Chelsea have reached a verbal agreement to sign the Portuguese international on an initial loan fee which is set to be around €11 million.

This news has also been backed up by Fabrizio Romano who is claiming that the talks are in the advanced stages but as of now, there are no discussions of a buy clause at the end of June.

This is a massive blow for both Manchester United and Arsenal who were really hoping to sign the 23-year-old. However, this transfer news comes at the perfect time for Chelsea and Graham Potter as they have been facing a lot of heat after their humiliating loss to Manchester City.

Chelsea are in complete disarray right now as they are 10th on the Premier League table with just 25 points from their 17 matches so for Joao Felix to choose a move to Stamford Bridge over the other suitors has come as a shock to many players.

The former Benfica man joined Atletico with a lot of high hopes but his career has not gone to the next level in Spain. He’s played 131 games for Atleti but has managed to score only 35 goals.

He’s hoping to get a fresh start in England and maybe he’s chosen Chelsea over United and Arsenal because, at Stamford Bridge, he will be able to get regular game time.

This is undoubtedly a major statement of intent from Chelsea’s new owners but now the pressure will be even more on Graham Potter because his boss is very aptly backing him up with all the necessary reinforcements.

As far as Man United and Arsenal are concerned, they will have to quickly shift their focus to another target because half of the transfer window is already over. Maybe the Gunners will now put their undivided attention on Mykhaylo Mudryk while Manchester United will try and sign Wout Weghorst as soon as possible.
