Premier League side Arsenal have made an official move to sign Lazio’s 26-year-old forward Joaquin Correa, as per Football Italia.

Mikel Arteta is on the lookout for a new forward for the 2021/22 season and as per the rumours, the Gunners have made a €20 million bid for the Argentine.

The report cites various sources: “According to multiple reports in Italy, Arsenal have made an opening bid to sign Lazio striker Joaquin Correa.

“According to multiple reports in Italy, including Il Messaggero and La Repubblica, the Biancocelesti have received an opening €20m bid from Arsenal, with the Gunners on the lookout for a striker in the summer.

“According to LaLazioSiamoNoi, Everton are also interested in signing the Argentinean forward, but Lazio want at least €35m to sell him.

“However, Il Messaggero reports new Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri requested the club not to sell their top players in the summer transfer window and Correa is among those Sarri wants to keep at the Stadio Olimpico.”

Arsenal to get their hands on Joaquin Correa?

Joaquin Correa joined Lazio from Sevilla in 2018 for a fee in the region of €15.30 million and he still has three more years left on his current deal with the club. So there’s no way the Italian club will be ready to part ways with him for just €20 million.

During the 2020/21 season, the 26-year-old scored eight and assisted four goals in 28 Serie A games and Sarri has made it clear that he is not keen to lose his star players this summer.

So Arsenal will have to do a lot if they wish to convince Joaquin Correa to join them for the 2021/22 season, especially since they do not have any European football to offer.

The interest in the 26-year-old also suggests the Gunners might be looking to offload Lacazette some time this summer while some think Joaquin Correa could be signed as a backup to the Frenchman and Mikel Arteta will then let players like Nketiah and Martinelli leave.

We feel Arsenal are just testing the waters with this initial bid since the player is valued at €30 million at TransferMarkt so the English side surely do not expect to sign him for €20 million either.
