Newcastle United and Aston Villa have already been linked with Liverpool defender Joe Gomez and now, as per HITC, West Ham United are also interested in him.
Under the tenure of new manager Julen Lopetegui WHUFC have already signed Luis Guilherme, Max Kilman, Summerville and Wes Foderingham this summer. Now, the manager’s next focus is to bring in a new top-quality defender.
Joe Gomez is primarily a centre-back but the England international can also play as a full-back and since making his senior debut in 2015, he has featured in 224 games for Liverpool across all competitions. While the 27-year-old is very much focused on playing under Arne Slot next season, with so many major clubs interested in him, Liverpool may cash in on him before deadline day.
Which club will Joe Gomez join if he leaves Liverpool?
West Ham United are showing fresh ambitions under their new manager and even though they will be confident about signing Joe Gomez, right now, they are at the bottom of the pecking order.
Aston Villa will also be confident about their chances because Unai Emery’s side can offer the defender Champions League football next season. However, it looks like Newcastle United might be the ones to land Joe Gomez in the coming weeks.
Liverpool reportedly want around €53 million to let Gomez leave and NUFC have not only opened talks with the defender but at the same time, the Magpies are willing to meet Liverpool’s transfer demands.
Aston Villa, also, won’t mind spending €53-55 million for a talent like Joe Gomez however, it will be very hard for WHUFC to spend such amounts on one single player this summer.
Right now, all three clubs are working behind the curtains to land the 27-year-old but if Gomez wants to leave Anfield then a move to St James’ Park seems most likely.
