Liverpool kick off their Premier League season this Sunday when they take on West Ham United at Anfield.

And before the game, manager Jurgen Klopp is scratching his head as to what should be his best first eleven against the Hammers.

The Reds had a number of players who played in the World Cup in Russia last month after which all of them went away on a late holiday. While most of them have returned back to Anfield but their participation in this weekend’s clash remains highly doubtful.

The likes of Dejan Lovren and Joel Matip have been struggling to get back to full fitness before the Premier League game and if the recent reports are to be believed then Jurgen Klopp is set to miss yet another key defender during Sunday’s game.

As per the report, defender Joe Gomez has been ruled out of the clash with an injury.

Gomez played 23 matches in the league last season and with a series of defenders ruled out, the 21-year-old was expected to start against the Hammers.

But the defender’s absence from Liverpool’s final pre-season game against Torino has confirmed the fact that Joe Gomez is indeed injured and might not play against Manuel Pellegrini’s side on Sunday.

Players like Andrew Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold all received some game time against Torino but these players are far away from full fitness so their impact on Sunday is of serious doubt.

Initial reports had suggested that Joe Gomez’s injury was minor and Jurgen Klopp has claimed that he expects the player to be fit for Sunday’s game.

But multiple reports since then have suggested that Gomez might struggle to make himself fit before the West Ham clash.
