John Terry played his last game for this past weekend. And he was given a very fitting and unique welcome by his players and manager.

Terry was substituted to a mid-match guard of honour. His manager decided to take him off in the 26th minute, the same number which is on John Terry’s back. After the match, John Terry confirmed that it was his idea to be substituted on the 26th minute.

While many pundits and ex-players had raised concerns over the integrity of the substitution but the Premier League and the Football Association have been relaxed about the incident.

But according to the BBC, the John Terry substitution has allowed gamblers to win bets amounting to thousands of pounds.

BBC sport pundit Alan Shearer had earlier questioned the integrity of the incident while another BBC pundit Garth Crooks said that the substitution was a bit uncomfortable.

An anonymous gambler told the Press Association that he even though he did not bet regularly but he still put his money into this one cause he knew that this was going to come in.

The gambler also told the Press Association that he was actually surprised that the odd were such high.

Antonio Conte said after the match that, “He deserved this. He’s a legend of this club, not just this club but one of the best defenders in the world,”

David Moyes also said that he and his team knew that the 26th-minute substitution was going to happen. He was informed about it beforehand. And he and his players had agreed to put the ball out in the 26th-minute in order for the substitution to take place.

The Football Association has not yet commented on the situation though and it looks as if that they are going to let this one go.
