Liverpool could beat Man United to the signing of this 26 Y/O midfielder thanks to a swap deal

Liverpool's Jordan Henderson playing for England

Liverpool are looking to overtake Manchester United and Barcelona in the signing of midfielder Saul Niguez by offering Jordan Henderson in a cash plus player deal, as per Sport.

The report claims: “Liverpool offer Xherdan Shaqiri, international with Switzerland. He is valued at about 15 million euros.

“The other name on the table is Henderson. Club captain, his negotiations to extend the contract with Liverpool have stalled.

“A player profile that could fit into the Cholo system. The serial Saúl is one of the soap operas in this transfer window and it seems to be going on for a long time.”

Should Liverpool offer Jordan Henderson for Saul?

Quite surprisingly Jordan Henderson is stalling over a new deal at the club and maybe this is why Jurgen Klopp is ready to offer his leader in a swap deal.

Xherdan Shaqiri will be of no use to the Atletico Madrid manager but a player like Henderson can be very useful to Diego Simeone. The England international is a born leader and he can very easily find a place in Simeone’s side.

Manchester United have been chasing Saul Niguez for a few months but at the same time, they are also being linked with Ruben Neves. So ideally Liverpool have a small window to try and convince Atletico for this cash plus player deal.

Jordan Henderson has still not shown any intentions to leave Liverpool this summer but if Klopp is ready to offer him for another player then the England international might very well start packing his bags.

Barcelona are also in the race for Saul and they are ready to offer Antoine Griezmann back to Atletico Madrid. And this is something that the Anfield outfit might find really hard to overcome.

Ideally, Liverpool should not be looking to send someone like Jordan Henderson out of the club but his current deal expires in 2023 and the last thing Klopp would want is a Wijnaldum 2.0.
