Jose Mourinho has finally chosen to respond to Solskjaer comments about winning silverware being an “ego” thing for some managers.
Man United have not picked up any silverware under their current manager and coincidentally, the last time United had won anything was under Jose Mourinho when they lifted the League Cup and the Europa League a few years ago.
But when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was asked the club’s trophy drought in his reign, the Norwegian had claimed that winning cup competitions are “more of an ego thing from other managers”.
These comments have not gone down too well with Jose Mourinho with the current Spurs boss coming out to claim that Man United great Sir Alex Ferguson would beg to differ with this statement.
The manager said, as quoted: “It’s his opinion. I’m pretty sure his big boss Sir Alex had a different opinion about it. But I respect what Solskjaer thinks. I think different.”
“Freedom of thinking, freedom of ideas, and if that is what he thinks that is fine by me. It’s not a problem for me, he’s not being disrespectful to anyone.

“But I repeat I believe his big boss, and the biggest in Premier League history, has a different view in relation to that.”
Man United are yet to pick up any major silverware under Solskjaer but they still have the chance to lift the Europa League at the end of this season.
On the other hand, Spurs might have been knocked out of the Europa League but they will be playing Manchester City in the EFL Cup final later this month and these one-off games happen to be Mourinho’s specialty.
But, all said and done, the focus right now will be on Sunday’s Premier League game between the two sides since if the North London side fail to pick win then they might have to say goodbye to their top-four hopes.
