Chelsea are really keen to land Jules Kounde before the new Premier League season kicks off and according to Fabrizio Romano, the Blues have made the defender their top-priority target.

The transfer expert has said that Jules Kounde has agreed on personal terms with the Blues and he’s ready to move out. Now, the final decision rests with Sevilla and possibly Kurt Zouma.

Romano told Sky Sports: “Chelsea are really really pushing for Jules Kounde. Tottenham wanted the player but the player wants to play Champions League football and that’s why Chelsea are now absolutely in the race.

“The player has an agreement on personal terms with Chelsea so now it’s just a matter of days if Sevilla will accept a proposal from Chelsea.

“They offered around €30-35 million and Kurt Zouma as part of this deal. Sevilla want more than this, around €45 million and Kurt Zouma.

“We will see if they find an agreement with Zouma or without the player by just including money.

“They are negotiating this but that’s the priority for Chelsea now and they will try again this week because Kounde also wants to join Chelsea.”

Will Chelsea be able to land Jules Kounde in time?

Paying an extra €15 million should not be a major issue for the Blues but convincing Kurt Zouma could prove to be an obstacle.

As per some rumours, Zouma is not too keen to play in Spain which is why he is scouting other possible options in the Premier League.

A few English sides have registered an interest in the Chelsea defender and if these sides can offer regular game time next season then there’s a big chance the 26-year-old will refuse to join Sevilla.

Thomas Tuchel’s side could try and sell Zouma and then use that money to offer a cash-only deal for Jules Kounde but there’s no guarantee Sevilla will accept this proposition since they have no time to find an apt replacement.
