Manchester United are about to formalise the signing of Raphael Varane and according to The Daily Mail, the Premier League outfit will now shift their focus to Sevilla’s Jules Kounde.

The report claims: “Manchester United are preparing a move for Sevilla defender Jules Kounde in addition to their pursuit of Raphael Varane.

“United are pushing ahead with a move for Real Madrid star Varane, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is also keen on a deal for Varane’s French international team-mate Kounde.

“Solskjaer has made defensive reinforcements one of his top priorities this summer and Kounde has been on United’s wanted list for some time.”

Should Man United move for Jules Kounde?

Manchester United will patch up a major fault line by signing Raphael Varane but MEN had recently claimed that Solskjaer wants not one but two central defenders this summer.

And true to this news, the English side seem to have stepped up their interest in the Sevilla defender over the past few days.

Jules Kounde is currently valued at £54 million so United will have to spend a fair amount of money to sign the central defender. He will be more costly than Raphael Varane.

But, given how flop both Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof have been last season, United can certainly use a backup like Kounde.

Maguire and Varane are going to be the first-choice pairing next season and if they can bring Kounde as well, then United will undoubtedly have one of the best defensive lines in the Premier League.

Sevilla are ready to part ways with the 22-year-old for the right amount but Man United might have to fend off Spurs and Real Madrid since they too have been linked with the 22-year-old.
