Chelsea, as well as Manchester United, have registered an interest in Sevilla centre-back Jules Kounde but there’s a chance that both these Premier League sides could miss out on him.

A few days ago, the 22-year-old had hinted that his long-term future could be outside of Sevilla but there’s a big possibility that he could remain in the La Liga next season as well since FC Barcelona have also been linked with him in the past few weeks.

He had said last week, as quoted by Goal: “I may have to change clubs this summer. I have not decided anything.

“My goal is, one day, to evolve into a great club to always try to progress, win trophies. To be able to start the season each year by telling yourself that the goal is win a particular trophy. I might have to move, but that’s not relevant today.”

Sevilla are very much aware of all the interest that Jules Kounde has gathered this season and the Spanish side are more than open to selling the defender this summer. The club do not have a problem in letting him move to England or let him stay in the La Liga, as long as the interested clubs are willing to meet their demands.

Mundo Deportivo had claimed: “Jules Koundé, concentrated with France preparing the Euros, has been put on the market and the reactions have not been long in coming.

“The Andalusian club has taken notice and already sets its conditions. Manchester City wanted him a year ago but the Andalusian club rejected an offer for 55 million. It is still a low proposition.

“In Seville they assure that neither the president Pepe Castro nor the sports director Monchi have been altered by this new situation.

“They are clear about it. The starting point is the 80 million of its termination clause, although for a slightly lower amount. They speak of between 65 and 70 million(euros).”

Is Jules Kounde set to snub Premier League interests?

There’s no doubt that further advance his career, the defender will have to move out of Sevilla this summer but will he join either Chelsea or Manchester United?

Ideally, he would love to stay in Spain by joining FC Barcelona next season but we are not sure if the 22-year-old will be too eager to join Koeman’s side since Barca have already brought in a central defender.

Barcelona have just brought back Eric Garcia from Manchester City so if Jules Kounde was to join the Catalans, he will have to prove his worth all over again, something he will not be too happy about after playing 34 league matches for Sevilla this season.

There’s going to be competition at Chelsea and Man United as well but at the English clubs, the challenges will be much more muted.

Thiago Silva will be leaving Chelsea anytime and even Ole is looking for a long-term partner for Harry Maguire. And at 22 years of age, someone like Jules Kounde could be the ideal man to slot into either of these two roles.
