Chelsea have finally wrapped up the signing of midfielder Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The online world was abuzz with this particular transfer ever since Leverkusen’s coach Peter Bosz had claimed that Havertz would not be training with the club anymore.

Bosz said: “Unfortunately our squad isn’t set yet. I don’t expect (Kevin) Volland and Havertz to train with us again.

“It’s possible more players will transfer. We definitely still have to add some players.”

And now, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has more or less made it official by saying those three magical words regarding the youngster’s move to the Premier League.

He wrote on Twitter: “Kai Havertz is a Chelsea player by one week! Just a matter of time to prepare the announcement, have medicals and complete the contracts for a €100m deal. Never been in doubt. Here we go confirmed.

“Kai Havertz has been told last Monday: “The deal is done. You’ll be a Chelsea player”. And so it will be soon.”

Romano has also claimed on Instagram that Chelsea will pay €80m upfront and will have to shell out another €20m in the form of add-ons.

He wrote: “Chelsea will pay €80m to Bayer Leverkusen with €20m more by add ons. Havertz will sign his contract until June 2025 [personal terms agreed more than one month ago with Kai].

“Havertz deal has not been announced quickly by Chelsea because of the paperwork between the two clubs, complicated clauses [add ons related to UCL, Premier League and more], medical for Kai in London. Normal timing for a €100m deal.”
