Liverpool could lose midfielder Jordan Henderson and if they do, Jurgen Klopp could try and bring in Leeds’ Kalvin Phillips as a replacement.

Right now, the Anfield outfit are really struggling to make Henderson put pen on paper to a new deal and since he has only two more years left on his current contract, rumours suggest that he is also planning to move out as a free agent like Wijnaldum.

According to Danny Mills, should Liverpool decide to part ways with Henderson, on a permanent sale or otherwise, Jurgen Klopp could try and make a move for Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips.

Mills told Football Insider: “Yes[he can replace Hendo], Kalvin Phillips will be on their radar, as well as everybody’s.

“He’s now gone from a good Premier League player to an international class player. That puts him in a whole new bracket of admiration. A lot of people will be watching him week in, week out. Whether they can afford him and whether he wants to leave is completely different.

“He will now be attracting a lot more attention than he previously was.”

Will Liverpool move for Kalvin Phillips?

Kalvin Phillips has proved his pedigree for the grand stages during the European Championship for England and right now, he is one of the top defensive midfielders in the Premier League.

His market value has soared in the last few months and pundit Dean Windass believes that another good season with Leeds could see the 25-year-old head for the exit.

Windass told Football Fan Cast: “Kalvin Phillips was one of the plusses at Euro 2020. Being a local boy for Leeds, if he has a wonderful season, he won’t be at Leeds United, the big hitters will come calling.”

Jordan Henderson still has two more years left on his deal so Liverpool do not need to hit the panic button just yet.

The Anfield outfit will try and make him agree to a new deal this year but if they fail then surely Henderson will be put up for sale next summer. And in that case, there’s a big chance Klopp could sanction a move for Kalvin Phillips.

Right now, Phillips is valued at £36 million but if he ends up having another great season then Liverpool might have shell out a fortune to land the 25-year-old.
