Ross Barkley wanted by Man United

Chelsea have been without midfielders N’Golo Kante and Ross Barkley for some weeks now since the pair has been recovering from injuries.

While Kante has been out with a groin injury, Barkley has been struggling hard to be fully fit after he injured his ankle against Newcastle United in the first game after the October international break.

But now it looks like both these players are going to be fit and available for selection when Chelsea take on Ajax in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Just a couple of days ago, Frank Lampard had said he wanted to give both Jorginho and Kovacic some much-deserved rest since they have played too much football and now it looks like this will be possible.

The club’s official website have announced that the duo has returned back to full training meaning they are in line to take on Ajax.

The statement read: “There was good news for the Blues this morning as N’Golo Kante, Ross Barkley and Andreas Christensen took part in the final training session before tomorrow’s match against Ajax.

“Frank Lampard had said in the build-up to the Watford game that Kante was ‘close’ to returning to full fitness and would ‘possibly be ready for Ajax’. His involvement at Cobham today is another step in the right direction for our French midfielder.”

Christensen has also returned back to training but rumours claim he is not fit enough to start and might only find a place on the bench.

With Kante and Barkley fit, there is a big chance that either Jorginho or Kovacic could be rested.

And we believe that Kovacic will be player who will not be in the matchday squad since Jorginho is suspended is ruled out of Chelsea’s next Premier League.

If Chelsea manages to pick up a win in this match then the Blues will secure progress to the next round of the Champions League which is why Lampard will look to name his strongest possible side.
