Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante has suffered a hamstring injury in training and he is now going to be out for the next three months, as per The Athletic’s David Ornstein.

On Friday afternoon, Graham Potter had hinted that Kante’s situation is not looking good and that he could be out for some time.

The manager had told the press: “It’s a setback, it’s not good news. He’s due to see a consultant at the weekend. It’s not positive news… I can’t give you anymore”.

And now, Ornstein has confirmed that the hamstring injury is indeed serious meaning Kante is going to miss the upcoming World Cup.

The Kante injury a big blow for club and country?

N’Golo Kante remains a key part of the France national team and if he is indeed out of the World Cup then it’s going to be a big blow for them.

He’s been the fulcrum for the French side for the longest time and without him, Didier Deschamps could be under all sorts of pressure.

However, the new Chelsea manager might not be too worried about this fresh injury setback because N’Golo Kante has become really injury-prone in the previous few seasons and this time around, he’s played only two matches in the Premier League.

A couple of years ago, Chelsea could not have imagined playing without Kante but now they have figured out a way to deal with his absence so even if he is out for three months, Potter won’t be losing his sleep.

The likes of Kovacic and Jorginho have done really well in the central/defensive midfielder’s role so even if Kante was fully fit, we don’t think he would have gotten into the team ahead of these two.
