Arsenal brought in Kieran Tierney from Celtic FC for a reported transfer fee of £25 million making him the first Scott to join the club in almost 21 years ago.

Scott Marshall was the last Scottish player to wear the jersey of Arsenal back in 1998 but Tierney will have to wait for a couple of more weeks before he can make his debut for the club since he is still recovering from an operation.

But speaking with the club, the full-back revealed that is looking to give his best for the club and also form an imposing partnership for with the defenders as well as the attackers who will be playing down the left-hand side.

“It’s massive for me as well [being the first Scotsman since 1998],” Tierney told Arsenal Player. “I’m proud and delighted to be here, so it’s all good.

“I work hard, that’s all I can say: I work my hardest every game, I give all I’ve got and I wear my heart on my sleeve all the time. That is honestly all I can give.

“I’ll be looking forward to hopefully get a partnership with whoever is on the left and whoever is centre-back – partnerships all over the pitch and friendships too.”

Last season, Kieran Tierney could play in only 20 Premiership games for Celtic due to his hernia troubles but he did manage to rake in 5 assists during his time on the pitch.

And speaking about the 22-year-old, Arsenal legend Perry Groves has claimed that Tierney is better in attacking situations as compared to Man United’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

“[Yes], when you think that Wan-Bissaka goes for £50m,” said Groves.

“But that’s because he’s played a season in the Premier League. Kieran Tierney is better going forward than Wan-Bissaka; Wan-Bissaka is a better defender than what Kieran Tierney is.”

Right now, Kieran Tierney is on the road to recovery after undergoing surgery this summer and the Gunners have confirmed when he is likely to return back to full fitness.

The club released a statement which read: “Groin. Continues to receive treatment and further assessments. Aiming to participate in full training in October.”
