Defender talks about his future amidst links with Manchester United: Is he leaving?

Kieran Trippier England

England right-back Kieran Trippier has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United this summer with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer eager to add a competitor for Aaron Wan Bissaka.

Trippier currently plays for Atletico Madrid and some rumours have claimed that the Spanish side are willing to let the full-back leave for the right transfer price.

But while giving a recent interview, Kieran Trippier has made it clear that he is not ready to divulge into his club future as he is fully focused on winning the European Championship with the Three Lions.

“I’ve just enjoyed the season [at Atlético] and we’ve won the title,” he told The Guardian. “I’m away with England, we’re playing Denmark and I’m not focusing on my club or what is going on.

“I’m just focused on England and doing as best as I can if I play. If I don’t play, I still give 100 per cent.”

Will Kieran Trippier join Manchester United?

Kieran Trippier had a really successful 2020-21 season with Atletico Madrid and so far he’s shown no signs of discontent at the club.

But a few reports are claiming that if Manchester United are ready to pay around £35 million euros for the 30-year-old then Atletico will let him head back to England.

There’s no doubt Trippier is a world-class right-back but the demanded price is way too much for someone who has only two years left on his deal and is currently valued at around £18 million.

We don’t think the Manchester United management will be ready to pay so much for the right-back and might look for alternatives across the European market.

Kieran Trippier will be a fine addition to the Man United squad next season but the club still need to bring in a centre-back and a defensive midfielder with the utmost priority. So spending £35-odd million on a backup full-back makes no sense at all.
