French defender Kurt Zouma moved out of Chelsea this summer to join West Ham United and according to Glen Johnson, this bit of transfer business from the Blues has left him a bit perplexed.

The Hammers have a really busy final week of the window and Kurt Zouma was one of their better acquisitions in the summer. The 26-year-old had been a pretty solid player last season and according to Johnson, a rift between him and the manager might have forced him to leave Stamford Bridge.

He said, as per Claret and Hugh: “As a West Ham guy, I’m delighted that they’ve signed him and I think it’s a great deal.

“He’s a good player, a young player and is super athletic. He’s a bubbly guy too so I reckon the West Ham lads would be really happy to have him with them.

“From a Chelsea perspective, I’m surprised they’ve sold him.

“There clearly must be something between him and Thomas Tuchel because otherwise, they wouldn’t have let him go, even though I don’t know that personally.

“He’s a very good player and for him to turn up at West Ham is ideal for the Hammers.”

Last season, Kurt Zouma played in 24 league games and had an average rating of 7.06/10 on Fotmob. He also chipped in with five goals.

He is undoubtedly a fine addition to the West Ham United squad but we don’t think he will he will be missed too much by Chelsea.

Thomas Tuchel has ample cover in the defensive areas and the club are more than likely to bring in a new central defender as early as possible.

Jules Kounde was supposed to come in as a replacement for Kurt Zouma but somehow that deal did not go through. But the Blues are surely going to try and sign him once again during the January transfer window.
