The 2018 World Cup recently concluded in Russia and France were crowned the champions after they beat Croatia in the final.
Didier Deschamps side playing his one whole unit and almost everyone contributed towards lifting the World Cup. So naturally, when the Les Bleus lifted the trophy after 20 long years the whole country celebrated as one.
But there was one French player who was not very enthusiastic about his country winning the World Cup.
And the person in question is Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny.
Koscielny suffered an Achilles injury last season while playing for the Gunners in a Europa League game and this injury prevented him from going to the World Cup with France.
Now the centre-back has revealed that he was felt nothing special after his country won the World Cup.
Koscielny said: “In truth, I didn’t see many matches. I have been working on my rehabilitation from 9 am to 1 pm, and then from 4 pm to 7 pm,

“I saw the last half-hour of France-Peru and a few other games. When they were crowned world champions, I felt nothing special, but I was really happy for the players, the staff.
“It was nice, but it’s not that I was enthusiastic. The trip was good for me, but it was also bad.
“The players were united, supportive and mature. Living together for more than a month is not easy, they did it. “
Laurent Koscielny’s absence from the World Cup meant that Raphael Varane and Samuel Umtiti played in central defence during the tournament but the Arsenal man did travel to Russia in order to celebrate with the squad.
The centre-back has been ruled out for atleast six months meaning the Gunners captain is scheduled to return early November.
