Here’s what Arsenal have to do to sign this £72M-rated Argentine forward: A deal possible?

Lautaro Martinez Inter Milan

Arsenal have set their sights on signing Lautaro Martinez from Inter Milan but if the latest gossip is to be believed then the Gunners will have to really dig deep for this one.

According to journalist Pete O’Rourke, the Premier League side have made an offer for a swap deal for the 23-year-old and the Serie A outfit have been prompt to come up with a response.

The Express cites his comments on the Football Terrace writing: “An opening offer has included a player-exchange deal that would see Hector Bellerin and Alexandre Lacazette move to the San Siro, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke on the Football Terrace podcast.

“However, he goes on to insist that Inter will only accept a £65m straight-cash offer and do not want either of the players.

“It is unclear whether Arsenal would be prepared to pay the fee up front, having only just spent £50m on Brighton defender White.”

Can Arsenal afford someone like Lautaro Martinez?

Arsenal will be really eager to get their hands on Lautaro Martinez since he was one of Inter Milan’s best players last season.

But, they have already spent so much money on Ben White and the other arrivals that we doubt if the management will sanction a £65 million cash-only deal for the Inter forward.

Mikel Arteta will be able to gather some funds if he can offload players like Lacazette and Nketiah but right now, no one is interested in signing either one of them.

Apart from generating funds from player sales, it will be really hard for Arsenal to pay £65-odd million for Lautaro Martinez so, in the end, they might have to shift their focus to someone like Tammy Abraham since he’s available for around £40 million.

Inter Milan are in desperate need of money which is why they have already sold Achraf Hakimi and Romelu Lukaku should be on his way to Chelsea. And this is also the reason why they want outright cash for Lautaro Martinez.
