Tottenham Hotspur have registered an interest in Lautaro Martinez, a player who is also wanted by Arsenal and according to Fabrizio Romano, the interest from Spurs is genuine.

Owing to Inter Milan’s financial situation, it was being claimed by The Times, that the Italians have accepted Spurs’ bid for Martinez. But, so far, none of the other reliable sources have backed this news.

This means Spurs as well as Arsenal are still a fair bit away from signing the 23-year-old but Fabrizio Romano has claimed that the interest from Daniel Levy’s side is genuine while a transfer remains complex.

Romano said on Sky Sports News, as quoted: “The interest is genuine because it’s true that Tottenham want Lautaro Martinez. They’ve been in talks with his agent, with Inter about Lautaro Martinez.

“So it’s true that there is a strong interest from Tottenham, but it’s something that they wanted to do before Inter sold Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea.

“It was about last week, that’s why the situation now is not easy. Inter state that they want to keep Lautaro Martinez at the club.

“They are convinced that Lautaro will be staying because they sold Lukaku, and they sold Achraf Hakimi to Paris Saint-Germain, so they don’t need money right now. And that’s why I think that this deal with Tottenham will be complicated.”

Lautaro Martinez staying at Inter Milan:

In a major setback to both the North London sides, Martinez’s agent has said that his client is happy at Inter Milan and right now, he has no plans of leaving.

“Lautaro is happy at Inter and in Italy. His decision is to stay,” Alejandro Caamano said, as quoted.

“The relationship with Inter is perfect. Lautaro is calm, it is true that there were offers but today he is comfortable and we will sit down to talk about the future.”

After selling Romelu Lukaku and Achraf Hakimi, Inter Milan have gathered a lot of funds so we don’t think Inter Milan will be ready to lose Lautaro Martinez either.

And now that his agent has also cleared the air, Arsenal and Tottenham have to shift their focus to another centre-forward.

Tottenham will have to find a new forward, irrespective of whether Harry Kane leaves or not but Arsenal can still breathe a bit easy since they are still holding onto Lacazette and Nketiah.
