After almost securing the signing of Ben White, Arsenal now want to bring in a new centre-forward. And in a bid to do, the Gunners have make inquiries about 23-year-old Lautaro Martinez.

A report in the Telegraph claims: “Arsenal have made an inquiry for Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martínez during their ambitious summer in the transfer market.

“Inter are determined to keep the 23-year-old Argentina striker as they attempt to defend the Italian title next season, and would prefer him to extend his contract which has two years left to run at San Siro.

“But the interest shows that Arsenal’s technical director, Edu, is aiming high in the market to get the club closer to a top four Premier League finish after missing out on European football altogether last season. Italy midfielder Manuel Locatelli was also a summer target, his club Sassuolo have confirmed.”

Can Arsenal even get close to signing Lautaro Martínez?

Lautaro Martinez is one of the star players in the Inter Milan squad and currently he is valued at a staggering £72 million with his contract expiring in 2023.

Despite intense interest from Chelsea, Inter are not ready to let Romelu Lukaku leave this summer which might indicate that Martinez could be up for sale.

But, Arsenal have spent £50 million on Ben White and we don’t think they can afford to make another big-money signing this summer.

Also, the Gunners are eyeing a move for Aaron Ramsdale – a player who could cost around £30 million. So instead of wasting time on someone like Lautaro Martinez, Mikel Arteta should focus on bringing in Tammy Abraham.

The Chelsea forward is eager to move out of the club this summer and as per the reports, the Blues want £40 million for his sale – a fee which the North London side can easily afford.

Also, Lautaro Martinez just won the Serie A with Inter Milan so the last thing he will want is to join a side which finished 8th on the Premier League table last season.
